⚠️Six Course Meal with Scott Kannberg aka Spiral Stairs of Pavement & Preston School Of Industry. He talks to us about some of his favourite records!

We asked Scott what is coming up on the horizon for him:
"I'm about to finish my new solo record. Was supposed to start in March of 2020 but COVID happened so shelved it while I moved back to Australia. My drummer & bassist & I recorded it via Zoom in December & i'm still trying to finish up the singing & finishing touches before my producer mixes it all. Unfortunately, my bass player died a month ago, so it's all added some more sadness to the project. I think i'm gonna call it 'More Songs About Feelings And Loss'."

Part 1:

1️⃣ An album you constantly listen to alone. One that is very close to your heart and you prefer to not listen to in the company of others, a record you feel speaks directly to you!
🎯 "Echo And The Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here. A record where mystery is the key. Murmur by R.E.M. is kind of the same way. Lovely soundscapes and just great songs. Dark. Selected track - Over The Wall"

2️⃣ An album from a label you highly respect.
🎯 "I'll go with Odditties by The Clean on Flying Nun Records out of New Zealand. Back in the late 80's there were tons of great records coming out of NZ on Flying Nun. Tall Dwarfs, Verlaines, Chills, etc., but the clean I really took a liking to. Their sounds and vibe were so new and weird and still sound great today. I learned a lot from the guitar playing of David Kilgour. Selected track - Getting Older"

3️⃣ A classic album, one that you put on when friends are over or when times are good! A staple in your life.
🎯 "Roxy Music - Stranded or David Bowie - Aladdin Sane. Both from around the same time and both taking the past to show us the future. Both great for party talk. Selected tracks: Roxy Music - Psalm & David Bowie - Aladdin Sane"
